Frequently Asked Questions
Where did you buy [x] Zoid?
I buy most of my model kits from AmiAmi, HobbyLink Japan and Toy-Wave.
When I can, I also buy from Leo Shop. And sometimes nice people send Zoids to me :p. I really like trawling Yahoo!Japan Auctions and Rakuten,
though the poor dollar to yen rate at the moment limits that to stuff that I reeeeeeally want and cannot find anywhere else for the most part. And obviously, unless you live in Japan, you really can't buy directly from those places, but there are some links to companies/people
who can bid/buy on your behalf for a fee on my links page. I also buy Zoids off eBay if I see a good deal. They're there, believe it or not, though I feel that timing and a little bit of luck have a lot to do with it.
Where did you get [insert rare limited edition model here]/where can I find that model at a decent price?
I tend to preorder a lot of my models before they've been released so I don't really know where to tell you to get the model after the regular stores are sold out. There is always eBay, but the markups on some of the kits can be insane.
What's your favorite Zoid?
I can't pick just one, but my favorites are Salamander of course (Hello, rustysalamander.net. I like Krark especially.), Zeek Dober, Glidoler, and Genosaurer.
May I use your pictures/custom models for my rpg/avatar/signature/photo manipulation/whatever?
No. Also, PLEASE DO NOT HOTLINK/DIRECT LINK ANY OF MY IMAGES. There are tons of free image hosts like Photobucket and ImageShack these days, there's no reason whatsoever for you to direct link to any of my images. Please do NOT use
any of my photos for eBay auctions.
What do you use to joint your Zoids?
Milliput, some square styrene tubing, and Hobby Base/the company formerly known as Yellow Submarine's plastic joints. My technique varies from Zoid to Zoid, and there are tons of different ways of applying them, so I encourage you to experiment on your own with them. Yes, I am aware that many other modelers
use Bionicle joints for jointing Zoids, but I don't care much for the look of them.
Do you understand Japanese?/Can you translate this data for me?
Yes, I understand Japanese, though I need to expand my vocabulary and the amount of kanji I can read. I don't really have the time right now to translate large amounts of data however.
How long have you been collecting models?
It's been 9 years as of August 2010. Whee
How many models do you have?
As of 1/11/11, I have... no idea. I suspect it's inching close to 200 at this point. When I have room to display them all again, I will take an official count again :p.
Will you tell me how to paint/remodel a Zoid a certain way?
Unfortunately, I no longer have the time to walk people step by step through my techniques on an individual basis. However, you're welcome to ask questions about my customs of course; I just don't have time go through the process
in detail. My work in progress page is a good place to start to see how I build up my customs, and I do make some tutorials from time to time in the how-to section.
Is this the end of the FAQs section?
Yes. Yes it is.
